H.U.R.T. 100 Update #2 (11/20/07)

Runners,

As you all are probably painfully aware the race will soon be upon us. Your race committee has been putting the finishing touches on this year's event and it promises to once again be an incredible event with tons of fabulous runners and volunteers. Please take a couple of minutes to read the following update:

1) Bob and Barbi McAllaster will be serving as aid station captains for Nuuanu. Please extend a warm welcome to the two of them for their bravery of such an undertaking.

2) Please review the race rules and procedures. Recently we have answered a ton of e-mail questions on items that are clearly described in the rules. It's not that we don't want to talk to you folks but our time is occupied with other details of the event. We kindly ask your cooperation in this matter. We will be happy to answer question not answered in the rule book.

3) One change not noted in the book is that CREWS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AT THE MANOA (PARADISE PARK) AID STATION ON THE FIRST LOOP.  We ran into problems last year with parking on the initial loop. Therefore, please plan accordingly this year.

4) Succeed Ultra has been selected as the drink that will be served at the aid stations.

That about does it for now. Continued success with your training.

Jeff & John

2008 H.U.R.T. 100 (January 19-20, 2008) Entrant List

Aloha Runners,

Attached is the updated entrant list (111207) for the H.U.R.T. 100 to be run on January 19-20, 2008. Click  here to view the list. We will attempt to add runners off the wait list to fill the spots of those who feel that they will not be able to participate up until 11/15/07. Please note that there are less than a handful of runners on the wait list, as we have been filling slots fast and furious for those opting out (therefore chance for a refund are running out). Please contact PJ HURTPALS@aol.com ASAP if you would like to pull out of the race, or if there are any corrections to your personal information.

Mahalo,

John & Jeff

H.U.R.T. 100 Update

Aloha Runners,

We hope that this post finds you all well, and eagerly training hard for your much anticipated effort at the H.U.R.T. 100 in January. We want to take the opportunity to inform you of a few informational items that will help you as you proceed towards the starting line.

1.) The drop date is fast approaching (November 15th), and at this time we have no intention of changing it (however it is still a possibility). We have nearly cleared the wait listed runners and accepted them into the run. If you would like to drop out of the race and receive a refund it must be done before 11/15/07 and we must be able to place a runner into your slot. If you are interested in taking this avenue please get in touch with PJ at  HURTPALS@AOL.com as soon as possible.

2.) We are in the process of working out an agreement with The Willows for the post race dinner (non hosted). If you have not been to this event in the past we would encourage you to attend. The event will be held on January 21, 2008. More details will follow as we get closer to race date.

3.) We have decided to do away with the medical identification band. In the past we have utilized the band to record the runner's name and weight. However, since we no longer mandate weight measurements the band is no longer needed. Runner's dropping out of the race will simply have their run number removed. We will have a scale available for runner's who wish to track their weight.

4.) We are in the process of identifying a new electrolyte drink for the race. The final choice will be either Gatorade, Succeed Ultra (Karl King Product), or Gu2O (GU Product). Again, we will notify you folks via this site to inform you of the final decision.

5.) As you all know it takes a lot of volunteers to put on an event of this magnitude. In the very near future we will be soliciting volunteers for such things as trail marking, aid station help, possible safety patrol, trail ribbon pulling, etc. Once the aid station captains have met and identified their needs we will be posting those items to this site.

As the race draws near more items will be posted here. Until then continued good training and health.

Aloha,

Jeff & John
