DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO AID STATIONS and PARKING DETAILS

Aloha All,

This message is directed to runner's crew, pacers, family and friends that want to come out to support runners during the HURT 100. We are including parking and driving instructions here so please share this with anyone who will be here on island supporting you. There is a Google Maps link near the top right of this page.

Most of this information is in the The Book of HURT. You have read that right? Well your crew, pacers, family and friends may not have so please pass this on.

Driving between aid stations can take some time depending on traffic. Also parking is limited at each aid station. CLICK HERE for details. Please park only in designated areas. No crew or support is allowed at the Paradise Park Aid station until after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning to limit congestion. Please limit or leave no valuables in your car while parked at an aid station.

HURT 100 Update

Aloha All,

Happy New Year to each and everyone of you. Some final business before your big event.

Bib numbers have been assigned. Please visit  Ultrasignup to view your bib assignment. Refer to the 2013 Book of HURT for proper labeling and size dimensions for your drop bags.

Dinners tickets have sold out. The deadline for a refund has expired as well. The dinner count has been placed with the venue.

The wait list has just closed. We will no longer accept any wait listed runners. An email was sent to the wait listed runners today to that effect.

We still need a few more trail marking members. If you are interested and have not contacted me as of yet please do so with an email to jhuff@hawaii.rr.com.

We are also in need of a few more volunteers for the Nature Center aid station. If you are interested and haven't already done so please contact PJ at Hurtpals@aol.com.

If you would like to donate some of your old Aloha Shirts for the banquet on Monday night please contact PJ at Hurtpals@aol.com

Post race plaques will once again be engraved on site post race by Joel Jenkins. Cost of the plaques is $20.00 cash.

The weather here has been pretty gloomy, hopefully we will get some sun soon or it might be a tad bit muddy. Hooray!

We have some new things in place this year to enhance your experience. We hope you find them helpful.

Once again we will have updated web tracking during the event. Once the URL is determined we will get that information out to you. Until we meet in a couple of weeks, enjoy the taper.

Aloha,

HURT 100

Just a reminder, the drop date for the $100.00 refund is fast approaching (11/15/12). If you would like to, or need to give up your slot you must contact me at jhuff@hawaii.rr.com on or by 11/15/12. To make ends meet at he HURT 100 we need 125 runners to toe the line at the start. Failure to notify us and to not show at the event will not go over well with the folks at HURT.

For those who finish 100 miles in 2013 we have a new buckle for you. PJ and John have come up with a new design that you will be pleased with. It is so cool and more in keeping with the spirit of HURT. For those who get through 67 miles (fun run) we have a limited amount of buckles (100 km). This will be the last year we recognize the fun run with a buckle.

On behalf of the HURT 100 we look forward to seeing you in January. On behalf of the HURT family.

Jeff

A couple items of interest:

Jeff Fong has been named the coordinator for the Safety Patrol for 2013. He has large shoes to fill as he replaces Harald and AJ. The move was made as a means to bring more volunteers into the fold and to allow Harald and AJ the time to focus on the Book of HURT. Please join us in welcoming Jeff aboard.

First Wait Listed Runner in at HURT 100

Congratulations are in order for Pete Vara (who within an hour) accepted an invitation for the 13' HURT. Hannah Roberts has pulled out of the event opening the way for Pete. I called Pete shortly after the invite and his acceptance and all he said was, "Tell them all that there is a new sheriff in town , and his name is Pete!"

I forgot to mention to Pete that these aren't mainland trails.

Go get him gang.

For those on the waitlist you can see the update list at www.ultrasignup.com.

Aloha,

HURT 100

Mahalo From George

All,

Thank you for the kind support for George Ramos and family as he fights his battle with cancer. The HURT family with all you support was able to deliver to George a check for @ $3300.00 to help with his medical care. The Ramos family and the HURT family are in awe of the kindess in the community.

If you would still like to contribute to George please email me at jhuff@hawaii.rr.com and I will get you in touch with the folks who are handling the contributions as we move forward.

Our thoughts and prayers are with George and with you all as we head towards an incredible HURT in 2013.

Much Aloha,

HURT 100

H.U.R.T. 100 Director Announcement

Runners,

After some trepidation Stan Jensen has graciously agreed to a position as a member of the HURT 100 Directorate.

Realizing that the HURT 100 has grown beyond what we had ever expected, we felt it was in the best interest of the race to secure the services of someone with the wealth of knowledge of the Ultrarunning community that Stan possesses.

As you all know, Stan brings an extensive running resume as a volunteer, and runner to our community. We feel that this experience will help the evolution of the HURT 100 become a prominent 100 mile event.

Stan will serve many roles on the board, with a heavy emphasis on being Director of Race Communications. Stan has worked tirelessly with us in the past and his input has been invaluable.

We would like to welcome Stan aboard.

Aloha,

HURT 100
