Illegal Tour Operator Fined...

Aloha Trail Runners,

Thought you might be interested in this post from Aaron Lowe:

"As you may have heard or seen in the news, Magnum Tours has been fined by the DLNR $2,500.00 for illegal tour operations on the Manoa Falls Trail.  While the Department sees this as a great success, we are still concerned that Magnum Tours and other tours may be out there conducting business.  Again, we ask your support in reporting such illegal activities to our Division of Conservation and Resource Enforcement, Ph.# 587-0300."

Per my earlier post, the Trail Advisory Council will be meeting next month to discuss requests from commercial tour companies to conduct tours on weekends in addition to weekdays, increase the size of their tour groups, and add more trails (currently only Manoa Falls and Aihualama are allowed).

Mahalo to those who took the time to email me!  However, a larger sampling is needed, so please let me know how you feel about these requests at garciahi@pixi.com.

Happy Trails!

Dean Karnazes Transcript from Endurance Radio

Dean K. has been getting lots of press. Those of you who subcribe to the Ultra list have probably read about his upcoming book tour. It seems not all ultra runners are in favor of the press Dean is bringing to the sport or they are just jealous of how he has been able to capitalize on it.

Personally I don't have a problem with it. Here is a link (http://www.enduranceradio.com/transcripts/03-04-05_Dean_Karnazes.htm) to the transcript of an interview Dean did today on Endurance Radio.
